I recently returned from a trip to the beautiful island of Corfu. With its turquoise waters and friendly Corfiots, it was a pleasure to visit. I completed a series of watercolours while I was there and you can see a selection of these below.
Painted in the airy bar on a sunny morning at our hotel.
Looking east at Dassia. The mountains on the right of the painting are in Albania.
A morning view from Agios Nikolas beach.
A second interior view at the Iolida, this time looking through the high windows with the Ionian Sea in the distance.
The Cross at Lakonas: located above the popular resort of Paliokastritsa, the cross can be seen on a headland close to the monastary which overlooks the town.
A view of the harbour at Palaiokastritsa. Shown as relatively peaceful here in the early morning, it was a hive of activitiy for much of the day.
The final watercolour of the visit was painted over several hours on our last morning using two pages of the sketchbook. My plan now is to start to produce a series of larger oils based on the material I recorded on this trip.
